Creative (Special)

Maximum can submit 1 image

Special category is not counted towards total points.

In addition to NECCC Pictorial (Open) category definition, the Simsbury Camera Club uses a modified version of the PSA definition of Creative which accommodates the desire of some of our members to express their creativity without significant computer manipulation.

Creative photography is an extension of conventional photography into creative art. Its purpose is to stimulate creative thoughts and encourage experimentation with new ideas going beyond a simple photograph.

The Simsbury Camera Club definition of Creative includes: images that are surrealistic, unreal, non- representational, abstract or fantasy including images that have been changed by special effects, filters, textures, painterly, or in any other way as well as photographs that display a novel effect because of an unusual combination of objects and or viewpoint. Images may be modified during or after exposure. The final image must be the work of the maker, including textures, artwork and computer graphics, and follow the NECCC guidelines, which prohibit use of another maker's work, clip art and commercial textures.

One last point the use of clip-art is never allowed.

The PSA definition of Creative is "Altered Reality". All images must be original and may not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. Artwork or computer graphics generated by the entrant may be incorporated if the original photographic content predominates. Images may not be constructed entirely within a computer.

High Dynamic Range (HDR) images without further changes are not considered "Altered Reality."
